BLOOD, BODIES AND BUTOD

A chat with local writer, Nat Sario about his macabre stories, his writing process and getting published

2:30 pm, Friday 19 May

UMS library foyer

Crime novelists are a rare sight in Sabah, so we are very fortunate to have the opportunity to talk with Nathanial Sario (known as Nat), a published crime and horror writer. While Nat has only just started his career, he has already tasted success winning the 3rd Fixi Novo Malaysian Novel Contest earlier this year for his first book, Big Trouble in Little Paradise. The novel has been described as a clever whodunnit and as ‘’an exciting and fast-paced murder mystery set in a sleepy town in Sabah.’’ It is due to be launched at Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair sometime in May or June. The novel will be Nat’s fourth publication with Buku Fixi, a Kuala Lumpur-based company who champion young Malaysian writers. Previously, he published 3 short stories in the Buku Fixi anthologies, The Big Book of Malaysian Horror Stories, Chronicles of KK, and 2020: An Anthology.

Want to find out more? Interested in becoming a writer, but perhaps don’t know where to start? Come along to UMS library and put your questions directly to Nat.

See you there!
