Advancing Aquaculture and Marine Science for Sustainable Ocean Futures
Based in Sabah in northern Borneo, Institut Marin Borneo (IMB) is a research institute of Universiti Malaysia Sabah advancing aquaculture and marine science through research, innovation, education and collaboration.
Located within the Coral Triangle, IMB brings together expertise across aquaculture, oceanography, marine biodiversity and ecosystems, fisheries, conservation and coastal and marine management to better understand our oceans and support the sustainable use of aquatic resources.
Our Research
IMB's research is organised through two complementary research centres, connecting research on sustainable aquatic production with the study, conservation and management of marine environments and resources.

Aquaculture Research Centre
Advancing sustainable aquaculture through science and innovation
The Aquaculture Research Centre develops knowledge, technologies and practices to support productive, resilient and environmentally responsible aquaculture. Its research spans aquaculture production, breeding and hatchery technology, nutrition, aquatic animal health, biotechnology and environmental sustainability.

Oceanography Research Centre
Understanding the seas, marine biodiversity and coastal ecosystems
