BORNEO BOOK FAIR

This book fair is organised by Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Press with the cooperation from the State Education Department of Sabah and the Sabah State Library. This fair is also supported by the Malaysian Scholarly Publishing Council (MAPIM), National Book Council of Malaysia (MBKM) and Malaysian Book Publishers Association (MABOPA). This book fair is expected to attract 100,000 visitors and the targeted visitors are from the two public universities, namely Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia (UiTM), several private colleges and universities as well as several teaching and nursing colleges around Kota Kinabalu. Apart from that, this book fair is also expected to attract visitors from all over Sabah as this book fair is the first of its kind to be organised on this scale. The organiser has prepared and planned many attractive activities and programmes for visitors during the book fair.

OBJECTIVES

• To promote and further strengthen the reading culture among Malaysian. The varieties or genres of books and other reading materials available for sale will give more choices for visitors to choose from.
• To promote academic books published by the respective members of MAPIM and MABOPA as well as to strengthen cooperation between MAPIM and MABOPA especially in promoting academic books .
• To foster regional cooperation between Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia (Kalimantan) and territories under the BIMP - EAGA .
• To make Borneo Book Fair as the state’s annual event.
