WORLD AIDS DAY 2015

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM: FACULTY OF MEDICINE AND HEALTH SCIENCE

Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UMS together with the KK City Wellness Centre under Kota Kinabalu Health Office will be organizing a World AIDS Day 2015 celebration from 7-12 December 2015. This program is an initiative to commemorate the World AIDS Day which falls on 1st December every year. The theme of this year’s World AIDS Day is “Getting To Zero” which is in conjunction with the UNAIDS 2011-2015 strategy entitled Getting To Zero with its vision of “Zero new infection, Zero AIDS-related death and Zero discrimination” in the global commitment to halt the spread of HIV.

 

Objectives of this programme are:

  • To increase the awareness and latest knowledge on HIV / AIDS prevention and control among university students.
  • To encourage the community to help and promote the HIV screening program and provide moral support for HIV/AIDS patients.
  • To help in reduction of stigma and discrimination towards people living with HIV.
  • To encourage university students to enrol as volunteers in Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) such as Sabah AIDS Support Service (KASIH) and Sandakan AIDS Support Group Association (SAGA).
