Subject: Advisory For Malaysian In The Gulf Region

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring with deep concern the current volatile situation in the Gulf region.

The Ministry wishes to advise Malaysians residing or currently traveling in the region to be more vigilant and take necessary precaution to ensure their safety and security. They are strongly encouraged to keep themselves abreast with state of security situation in the areas they reside or visit.

Malaysians who have yet to register themselves with the Malaysian diplomatic mission, they should do so without delay with the nearest Embassy or Consulate General of Malaysia to facilitate communication with them should a need arise. Registration may be done via e-mail. The details of the Malaysian Embassies/ Consulates General in the Middle East and Gulf region can be accessed from the following website https://www.kln.gov.my/web/guest/malaysian-mission.

Due to the temporary closures of the Malaysian Embassies in Iraq, Syria and Yemen, registration and consular services are provided through the following Embassies:

  1. The Embassy of Malaysia in Amman, Jordan (covering Iraq);
  2. The Embassy of Malaysia in Beirut, Lebanon (covering Syria); and
  3. The Embassy of Malaysia in Muscat, Oman (covering Yemen).

The Ministry also wishes to advise Malaysians to defer nonessential travel to the region, in particular to areas where security situation is critical.

The Ministry will continue to undertake thorough assessments of the evolving situation, and will from time to time issue advisory to Malaysians in the region.
