UMS Came Forward to Help Flood Affected Schools in Membakut

SK Sinoko 4TUESDAY, 27 JANUARY – Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) came forward to contribute essential items for the teaching and learning (P & P) to Sekolah Kebangsaan (S.K) Sinoko, Membakut that was affected by the floods, recently.

The contribution was presented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ismail Ali while presenting post-flood aid with about 25 staff of the UMS Student Affairs Department, yesterday.

Talking to media when met he said, UMS will send donation in the form of office equipment and reference books to facilitate the administration and teaching of students at the school.

“We felt the need to offer our help seeing that this school is adversely affected. Usually we send food aid to the victims but this time we also carried out Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with the teachers of S.K. Sinoko and the Civil Defence Department (JPAM) Sabah to clean the school compound,” he said.

For the Principal of S.K. Sinoko, Jaini Hassan, UMS and JPAM’s concerns in cleaning up the school was seen as a noble effort.

“The school would like to thank UMS Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd Harun Abdullah and UMS staff as well as JPAM staff for their willingness to lend a helping hand,” he added.

S.K. Sinoko was one of the schools with less students affected by floods as high as 2.5 metres, destroying 90 percent of the school’s equipment . – ZMD (fl)
