12th International Borneo Research Council Conference: Diversity and Dynamism in Borneo (BRC2014)

Background
The Borneo Research Council (BRC) was established in 1968 as an incorporated non-profit organization for the advancement of knowledge in the social, biological and medical sciences with regard to Borneo (Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei, and Kalimantan).  The Council consists of an international group of scholars engaged in research in Borneo.  It holds biennial international conferences at which the latest research in al academic fields connected with Borneo is presented and discussed.

Since 1990, these biennial international conferences have been held at various universities and institutions located on the island of Borneo.  In 1992, Sabah hosted the Second BRC Biennial International Conference, which was jointly organized by the Centre for Borneo Studies (Sabah Foundation) and the Department of Sabah Museum, and in 2002 and 2088 Universiti Malaysia Sabah organized the Seventh and Ninth Conferences respectively.  Following the latest 2012 Conference, held at Universiti Brunei Darussalam, the Kadazandusun Chair together with the School of Social Sciences at UMS was again selected to organize the 2014 conference.

The year 2014 will mark the 20th anniversary of Universiti Malaysia Sabah.  This Conference will be one of the important university events for 2014, that will draw many international participants and presenters.
