Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) has issued a friendly reminder to all members of the university community, including academic staff, administrative personnel, and students, to prioritise road safety during the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri holiday season.
Vice Chancellor of UMS, Professor Datuk Dr Kasim Haji Mansor, expressed his concern for the safety of university members who will be travelling long distances to celebrate the festive season in their hometowns.
He advised everyone to take proactive measures in planning their journeys to avoid traffic congestion and extreme fatigue while driving.
“To the UMS community returning home with their beloved families, I would like to remind you to be cautious on the roads and always prioritise safety.
“Ensure that your trips are well-planned, your vehicles are in safe condition, and that you consistently adhere to traffic regulations,” he said.
Professor Datuk Dr Kasim also conveyed that compliance with traffic rules and proper vehicle maintenance are essential for safe travel.
“Personal safety should be our top priority so that everyone can celebrate Aidilfitri joyfully with their loved ones.
“The UMS management wishes for all university members to have a smooth and safe journey to and from their destinations and hopes that everyone can celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri in a harmonious, festive, and safe atmosphere,” he stated.
