KTMTUESDAY, 12 MAY – A total of 500 students participated in the ‘High Value Health’ programme organised by the Student Welfare Committee (JAKMAS) Tun Mustapha Residential College Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) through the Executive Council (Exco) for Culture and Arts, recently.

According to the director of the programme, Risimaran Subramaniyam; the event, held for the first time was to ensure that students from the Tun Mustapha Residential College maintain a high level of health besides doing charity through blood donation.

“We were targeting only about 80 students, but we have a total of 200 students who donated and this is a very encouraging number,” he told UMS Media.

In the meantime, the Tun Mustapha college principal, Dr. Mohamad Nizam Nazarudin said, the success of this blood donation campaign proved that the students fully supported the effort in improving the health of those in the campus.

“Programme like this should be continued in future as the result benefits not only the campus community but also the public,” he said, and who also donated blood and underwent health checks.

The programme managed to collect about 100 bags of blood donated, and were sent to the Kudat Hospital Blood Bank. – ZMD (fl)
