
Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) has officially received the baton to host the SEA Libraries of the Future Summit 2027 during the closing ceremony of the SEA Libraries of the Future Summit 2026 at Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa, Bali.
The baton was received by UMS Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Kasim Hj Mansor, accompanied by UMS Chief Librarian, Encik Zawawi Datuk Haji Tiyunin, signifying the official transfer of hosting responsibilities to UMS.
The SEA Libraries of the Future Summit is Elsevier’s flagship annual gathering of library leaders and information science experts across Southeast Asia. Since 2023, the Summit has attracted more than 350 participants from over 10 countries and has become a key platform for discussions on the future of libraries, artificial intelligence (AI), research intelligence, and digital transformation.
Hosting the Summit in 2027 reflects the confidence placed in UMS and its commitment to advancing innovation, research excellence, and regional collaboration. The event is expected to bring together library leaders, researchers, academics, publishers, and technology partners from across Southeast Asia.
Prof. Datuk Dr Kasim Hj Mansor expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to host the Summit and reaffirmed UMS's commitment to delivering a successful event that will strengthen regional cooperation and knowledge sharing.
Preparations for the SEA Libraries of the Future Summit 2027 will commence following the baton handover, with UMS Library working closely with strategic partners and stakeholders to ensure a successful and impactful Summit.
