Introduction

Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Science (PhD)

Entry Requirements

  1. A candidate who intends to enrol in the Degree of Doctoral Philosophy programme shall fulfil the following requirements:-

    • Attain a Master’s degree from any higher education institution recognised by the Senate; or
    • Possess other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s Degree and accepted by the Senate; or
    • Other requirements stipulated by the Faculty/Centre/Institute and accepted by the Senate


    International candidate from a country that does not use English language as its medium shall at least:

    • Band 5 in an English language IELTS (International English Language Testing System) or obtains score 500 (writing)/173
           (on-line) TOEFL test (Test of English as a Foreign Language); or
    • Pass English Language course conducted by the University and obtains at least grade B
Other Requirements
International candidates must submit substantial evidence of financial status such as bank and sponsors’ guarantee letters and other relevant supporting documents to ensure that candidates are financially able to further their studies at UMS
Study Duration
  • Full-Time /Min 4 Semester - Max 8 Semester
  • Part-Time /Min 6 Semester - Max 12 Semester
Supervision
Candidate undergoing postgraduate by research will be supervised by one MainSupervisor OR one Main Supervisor and max three Co-Supervisor, whosespecializations are related to the study discipline of the candidate.
