Introduction | Faculty of Medicine & Health sciences (FMHS) had developed another postgraduate programme named PhD (Public Health) which is geared towards the development of future public health leaders who have the capacity and vision to assess and develop interventions that address the health needs of the populations including the most disadvantaged, marginalised, and vulnerable populations in the Sabah, Malaysia and internationally.
The programme is suitable for both Malaysians and international students involved in the delivery of public health services, working in policy development relating to public health in government departments and NGOs, being responsible for educational programmes in colleges and universities or working in public health research and development.
The programme is a research-based postgraduate programme. The programme is offered full-time (3 to 6 years) and part-time (4 to 8 years).
The PhD (Public Health) programme is designed to produce graduates who are equipped with public health knowledge, current technology and statistical skills in data management and analysis. It also aims to produce graduates who are equipped with skills to run public health related research or lab work independently. Additionally, the programme aims to produce graduates who can develop networking, possess good communication, leadership, management, and entrepreneur skills, display professionalism as well as continuous life-long learning skills.
Upon completion of training, a graduate is expected to be competent in the field of public health, capable of assuming a public health leadership and management role in a health-related organisation. Graduates can become public health experts in government agencies, research institutions, academia, health agencies, international health related organisation, or non-governmental organisations. |

Supervision | Candidate undergoing postgraduate by research will be supervised by one MainSupervisor OR one Main Supervisor and max three Co-Supervisor, whosespecializations are related to the study discipline of the candidate. |
