The Department of Nursing, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UMS are offering the Bachelor in Nursing Science with Honours. A total of 30 students are aimed for each annual intake. The programme shall officially commence from the session 2022/2023 in October.

The Universiti Malaysia Sabah Nursing Programme strives to excel in providing an education that is based upon the principle of the belief in God. These attributes will ensure that the graduates are equipped to contribute significantly towards the well-being of our society and Nation.

The Universiti Malaysia Sabah Nursing Programme strives to produce nurses who are competent and caring through its priority of academic excellence, training in holistic modern nursing practice and innovative research.

MISSION
The Universiti Malaysia Sabah Nursing Programme will provide nursing education of the highest quality based upon the most excellent nursing standards that encompass preventive, curative and rehabilitative care. We emphasize upon a culture of professionalism, integrity and teamwork in the provision of best practice health care.

The Bachelor in Nursing Programme is designed to:

• Equip nursing students with sound knowledge and skills required for professional nursing practice.
• Provide a solid educational foundation from which students may proceed to higher levels of nursing education.
• Value and nurture creativity in developing human potential.
• Encourage students to be both critical thinkers and independent lifelong learners.

The duration of the study is full time for 4 years (8 semesters).

The application is open to Malaysian and international candidates above 18 years at the time of application and fulfills the following criteria:

General Requirement:

• Candidates need to possess MUET.
• Either one (1) of the following below:
  • Pass Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or equivalent with minimum CGPA 2.5;
  • Pass ‘A Level’ minimum Grade C in three (3) other subjects;
  • Pass Matriculation/Foundation with minimum CGPA of 2.5;
  • Pass any Diploma with minimum CGPA 2.5 (No credit transfer), Equivalent MQF Level 4 (remove bullet)
  • Pass Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution by MNB with minimum 2 years clinical working experience (Credit transfer allowed)

          AND

• All candidate who possesses STPM, ‘A Level, Matriculation/ Foundation and pass any Diploma except Diploma in Nursing MUST possess:
• Either one (1) of the credit below:
• Science/Biology/Chemistry/Physics/Applied Science at SPM or its equivalent

          AND

• Credit in Mathematics (Elementary or Additional or Modern) at SPM or its equivalent

         AND

• MUET with minimum of Band 3/IELTS with a minimum of 5.5/TOEFL with a minimum score of 515/215/80/Credit in English SPM

• Either one (1) of the following below:
• Pass Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or equivalent with minimum CGPA 2.5;
• Pass ‘A’ Level minimum Grade C in three (3) other subjects;
• Pass Foundation with minimum CGPA 2.5;
• Pass any Diploma with minimum CGPA 2.5 (No credit transfer) equivalent MQF Level 4
• Pass Diploma in Nursing and Registered with the Nursing Council of the country of origin.
• Minimum two (2) years of clinical working experience (Credit transfer allowed)

         AND

• All candidates who possess STPM, ‘A’ Level, Foundation and pass any Diploma except Diploma in Nursing MUST possess:
• Either one (1) of the credit below (minimum Grade C):
  • General Science/Biology/Physics/Chemistry/Applied Science at SPM or equivalent

         AND

• Credit in Mathematics(Elementary or Additional or Modern) at SPM or its equivalent

         AND

• IELTS with a minimum score of 5.5/TOEFL with a minimum score of 515/215/80.
• Cambridge English Advance (CAE)
• Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE)
• Pearson Test of English (PTE)
