Programme Info
The Department of Nursing, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UMS are offering the Bachelor in Nursing Science with Honours. A total of 30 students are aimed for each annual intake. The programme shall officially commence from the session 2022/2023 in October.

Program Objective
The Bachelor in Nursing Programme is designed to:
- Equip nursing students with sound knowledge and skills required for professional nursing practice.
- Provide a solid educational foundation from which students may proceed to higher levels of nursing education.
- Value and nurture creativity in developing human potential.
- Encourage students to be both critical thinkers and independent lifelong learners.
Duration of Study
The duration of the study is full time for 4 years (8 semesters).
Requirements
The application is open to Malaysian and international candidates above 18 years at the time of application and fulfills the following criteria:
Malaysian Candidates
General Requirement:
- Candidates need to possess MUET.
- Either one (1) of the following below:
- Pass Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or equivalent with minimum CGPA 2.5;
- Pass ‘A Level’ minimum Grade C in three (3) other subjects;
- Pass Matriculation/Foundation with minimum CGPA of 2.5;
- Pass any Diploma with minimum CGPA 2.5 (No credit transfer), Equivalent MQF Level 4 (remove bullet)
- Pass Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution by MNB with minimum 2 years clinical working experience (Credit transfer allowed)
AND
- All candidate who possesses STPM, ‘A Level, Matriculation/ Foundation and pass any Diploma except Diploma in Nursing MUST possess:
- Either one (1) of the credit below:
- Science/Biology/Chemistry/Physics/Applied Science at SPM or its equivalent
AND
- Credit in Mathematics (Elementary or Additional or Modern) at SPM or its equivalent
AND
- MUET with minimum of Band 3/IELTS with a minimum of 5.5/TOEFL with a minimum score of 515/215/80/Credit in English SPM
International Candidates
- Either one (1) of the following below:
- Pass Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or equivalent with minimum CGPA 2.5;
- Pass ‘A’ Level minimum Grade C in three (3) other subjects;
- Pass Foundation with minimum CGPA 2.5;
- Pass any Diploma with minimum CGPA 2.5 (No credit transfer) equivalent MQF Level 4
- Pass Diploma in Nursing and Registered with the Nursing Council of the country of origin.
- Minimum two (2) years of clinical working experience (Credit transfer allowed)
AND
- All candidates who possess STPM, ‘A’ Level, Foundation and pass any Diploma except Diploma in Nursing MUST possess:
- Either one (1) of the credit below (minimum Grade C):
- General Science/Biology/Physics/Chemistry/Applied Science at SPM or equivalent
AND
- Credit in Mathematics(Elementary or Additional or Modern) at SPM or its equivalent
AND
- IELTS with a minimum score of 5.5/TOEFL with a minimum score of 515/215/80.
- Cambridge English Advance (CAE)
- Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE)
- Pearson Test of English (PTE)
