Hence, all Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) educators are invited to give their input, thoughts and opinions regarding Malaysian education and institutions issues to be brought up to the Education Minister.

zawawi3THURSDAY, 15 JANUARY – The Non-Academic Management and Professional Union Universiti Malaysia Sabah (PPUMS) is open to any partnership of any charitable programme benefiting the community.

This was conveyed by the President of PPUMS, Hj Zawawi Tiyunin (pic) who said this at the opening ceremony of the IM4U Mount Kinabalu Climb for Charity and Spirituality 2015 programme.

He said, PPUMS had been involved in various activities such as these to help those who were less fortunate.

“We have been conducting charitable programmes such as assistance to orphans, singles mothers, fire victims and flood victims throughout the country,” he said.

Hence, he said PPUMS was very grateful to have been selected to jointly organise this charity programme involving orphans from all over the country.

The programme initiated by the 7 Continents Exploration Club Malaysia was officiated by the Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Tuan Haji Armizan Mohd. Ali. – SS (fl)

perjumpaan jhepa15THURSDAY, 15th JANUARY – Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr. Mohd. Harun Abdullah urged the staffs to carry out their duties sincerely and with the correct intention, thus becoming leading examples to UMS undergraduates.

According to him, the undergraduates should be exposed to good values and courteous manner in ensuring the objective, shaping ethical with integrity human capital, to be achieved.

“This, more than 16,000, UMS students is our trust as a university staffs, which we cannot neglected.”

“Hence all staffs, especially at the Department of Student Affairs must give good examples when dealing with students. This will reflects good values to the students for them to emulate,” he said.

He was quoted saying in front of more than 50 personnel from Department of Student Affairs and Alumni, UMS, in a meeting at Anjung Siswa.

Datuk Harun also added that UMS personnel must implement innovations in their duty in aiding the university to move forward together.

At the simple ceremony, Datuk Harun also handover a flag to the representative of a ‘Lawatan Kembara Bayu di Bumi Kangaroo, Australia’ programme, and contribution with a total of RM10,000 was also handed over by the Vice-Chancellor through Media Prima representative, Gloria Jaymess, for the flood victims in East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah. -MA(JA)-

Perpustakaan UMSWEDNESDAY, 14 JANUARY –The Library of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Main Campus has rescheduled its opening hours throughout the Semester 1 2014/2015 holidays which will begin on 17 January.

According to a statement issued by the department, the opening hours from Mondays to Thursdays are from 8.30 am until 5.00 pm.

As for Fridays, the opening hours are from 8.30 am to 11.30 am and reopen in the afternoon from 2.00 pm until 5.00 pm.

The statement added that the library will be closed on Sundays and Public Holidays.

pendakian amal im4uWEDNESDAY, 14 JANUARY – Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) through the Management and Professional Employees Union (PPUMS) Non-Academic and the Development and Maintenance Department (JPP) joined hands in working together for the IM4U Mount Kinabalu Climb for Charity and Spirituality 2015 organised by the 7 Continents Exploration Club Malaysia.

According to the President of PPUMS, Hj Zawawi Tiyunin, of the 105 participants in the charity climb, UMS also sent 18 participants from among its members, staff and orphaned students.

“The programme which starts today and ends on Thursday, among others aims to provide opportunities for the orphans to experience mountain climbing which is also participated by some members of the media,” he told reporters after the opening ceremony.

He said, PPUMS supported such programme which was seen as able to help generate smart thinking and physical fitness.

“We will continue to support such programmes, particularly those involving UMS students who are our future leaders to gain experience that can help them to move forward,” he added.

Also present were the 7 Continent Exploration Club Malaysia cum Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Datuk Akmar Hisham Mohd Yusof; JPP UMS Director, Kamisah Hussein and the President of the 7 Continent Exploration Club Malaysia, Muhamad Muqharabbin Moktharrudin. – SS (fl)
