KOTA KINABALU, 28 May 2025 – Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), through the Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition (FSMP), has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Linopot Venture Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of Borneo Guarana Sdn. Bhd., in an official ceremony held at the faculty.
The ceremony marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration between both parties to strengthen the development of the local food and herbal industry, especially in the state of Sabah and the Borneo region in general. The collaboration will cover areas such as research and product development, industrial training, technical consultancy, and support for the food and herbal sectors in Sabah.

Also present to witness the event were Professor Dr. James J. Gid, Director of the Centre for Sustainable Dissemination, UMS, along with senior management from the faculty and representatives from Linopot Venture.
This initiative is hoped to strengthen the relationship between academia and industry, and to support the sustainable development agenda based on local resources in the Borneo region. Through this collaboration, UMS is committed to continuously exploring new opportunities in food and herbal innovation, while empowering the university’s role as a catalyst for community and local economic development.
