The Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition (FSMP), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) is pleased to welcome a delegation from Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), Indonesia in conjunction with the International Academic and Benchmarking Visit Program. This official visit is taking place from October 14 to 16, 2026.
The delegation's visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations and explore strategic collaboration opportunities between the two institutions. Among the main agendas of this program is the signing ceremony of the Implementation Arrangement (IA), as well as discussion sessions on departmental governance and the global nutrition curriculum. The delegates also have the opportunity to visit FSMP laboratories to observe lab management practices.
Additionally, the visit focuses on broader academic networking through a technical visit to the UMS Halal Research and Service Centre (PPPH) and an International Engagement Program with FSMP undergraduate and postgraduate students. The delegation is also involved in Focus Group Discussions (FGD) to discuss program evaluation and draft future joint research proposals.
Initiatives like this program are highly aligned with the aspirations of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the sharing of academic expertise and curriculum improvement, as well as SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through the strengthening of strategic ties and international partnerships between higher education institutions. Furthermore, the discussion's focus on global food science and nutrition supports efforts towards SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being).
